The All-Party Parliamentary Group on 12 Step Recovery was set up to:

• review the scientific evidence and current best practice in 12 step recovery

• provide a forum for discussion in Parliament on the role of the 12 step programme in recovery from addiction and its implementation in public policy

• develop policy recommendations for government, based on these findings

An All-Party Parliamentary Group consists of Members of both Houses who join together to pursue a particular topic or interest.

The APPG on 12 Step Recovery is a neutral, cross-party forum for debate, discussion and learning on 12 step recovery within Parliament. The group was founded by MPs and Peers who want to influence relevant policy to expand understanding of and access to the 12 step programme for recovery from addiction, whilst also exploring key questions for the future of 12 step recovery in the UK.

We aim to be at the forefront of vital conversations in Parliament for recovery from addiction and related healthcare and criminal justice issues. We strive to bring together best practice and inspirational case studies from across the country in a series of Parliamentary seminars, open to all.
